Unlike many photographers, whose advertisements changed little over the years, Ellingworth readily revised his sales pitch. Three full-page advertisements for his music and photography business serve to illustrate the point.

The quality is not good, but the following are discernible: a draped camera on a heavy revolving tripod; a reflector on a much lighter tripod; a backcloth showing a curtain and a half-open lattice window to the side; a carpet in front of the backcloth; a small side table; a carved wooden chair; what may be the tall back of a cane chair, a table bearing assorted items, including an early gramophone; various mounted images.)
