TO THE LOVERS OF
PHOTOGRAPHIC ART.

It is one of the most promising features of the present age that, though merit may not, amidst fierce

and unscrupulous competition, be immediately recognised, yet when perceived it is instantly adopted

and supported by the public; while the pretentious shams that on making their appearance at once

attract attention, ultimately disgust their superficial admirers and fall into deserved contempt. This it

is, doubtless, that furnishes an explanation of the fact that

MR. J KATTERNS, PHOTOGRAPHER

OF

7 GOLD STREET, NORTHAMPTON,

stands so high in the estimation of his fellow townsmen, with a good fortune not always experienced

by those who, with himself, bring into the practice of their art great care and the result of assiduous

study. J.K., on commencing business some years ago, suddenly became a general favourite, and his

popularity has gone on increasing until the present time. The extensive patronage conferred upon him

by all classes of the community, has compelled J.K. to erect a

NEW GLASS STUDIO,

the largest in this county; and the increased facilities it affords, enables him to produce

LIKENESSES

which for accuracy of detail, and perfection of finish, leave competition far behind.

“Hope deferred maketh the heart sick,” and few disappointments are more poignant than, on receiving

the portrait of a loved but distant relative or friend, to find the features so slurred and distorted that it

is impossible to realize again the expression of that face which memory has cherished perhaps for

years. This arises more frequently from the knavery of impudent charlatans, than from the effects of

climate or exposure. J.K. uses only the purest materials, and therefore it may be confidently relied on

that his

TRANSPARENT ENAMELED PORTRAITS,

AND ALSO LIKENESSES,

On Glass, Ambrotype, Muslin, and Cloth, will be enduring records on which those in distant

Continents may gaze with affection and pride.

J. K. also executes

MINIATURES
