NEW YORK Studio
OGLESBY, Samuel According to Heathcote, Oglesby opened a studio at 22 Priestgate, Peterborough, in June 1854. He was an itinerant photographer who worked especially in the eastern counties in the 1850s. (He can be found in both the Norfolk and the Suffolk studio directories.) By the late 1860s he was resident in Llandudno, and it is likely that he also worked at some point in the north of England. OWEN, Edward

POWELL, John
The LN 1893/4 address looks suspiciously like a mistake. His advertisement in WRN 1884 reads: ‘Instantaneous photography. J Powell, artist, photographer, 50 Mare Fair, Northampton. Photographs of groups, views, animals, picnic parties &c, taken by appointment. Photographs of private residences (interior and exterior) receive J Powell’s personal attention. Portraits of deceased friends, &c, correctly copied and finished in the highest artistic manner.’ His lengthy advertisement in SN 1889 (which is given as a separate studio note) concludes with a reminder that he has moved to a new studio: ‘Note future address:- J Powell, Photographer, 62, Mare Fair, Northampton. (Exactly opposite St Peter’s Church.’ POWELL, Neil
